Steven R. Wakefield, MBA

Steve has over thirty years of finance and operations experience in a variety of companies.  Steve has worked with small to medium size businesses and assisted his clients in obtaining capital, implementing financial and inventory management systems, human resources, risk management and strategic and financial planning and analysis.  Steve is most proud of his efforts with companies who say, “Without Steve, we would not be in business today” or “Steve saved our business.”

Steve received a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Troy University.  More recently, Steve received an Associate Degree of Theology.  Steve held a CPA designation from 1991 – 2017.  Steve has also been a part time instructor at Georgia State University, has been a guest lecturer at the University of West Georgia and provided CPE seminars for Georgia Society of CPAs as well as SunTrust Bank.

Steve has been active in other community activities including serving as President and Treasurer of his 640 resident homeowner association where he led a road privatization project which required 70% homeowner approval. Steve also served on the Board of Advisors for the University of West Georgia School of Accounting.   In his free time, you can find him training for triathlons, working out at his local CrossFit box and writing his 365-day devotional book of which several devotions have been published in the Upper Room.

In 2014, Steve came forward to reveal a three-million-dollar bank fraud that funded one of his client’s operations.  Since this time, Steve has lost his business, marriage, reputation, CPA license and journeyed through the criminal justice system which included a two-year prison sentence.  Steve’s faith has been critical in handling his trials and tribulations and even finding peace and joy in the darkest of hours.   Steve has a desire to provide hope and help those currently incarcerated and/or going through re-entry into society.  Steve is actively involved in the correctional ministry at his church where he visits several facilities and leads worship services for the inmates.
